The Vine: October 22, 2026

Our fresh take on The Vine, a devotional based on the upcoming Sunday’s sermon.  This is a tool for you to dive deep into specific verses of scripture and get acquainted with spiritual practices. This iteration of The Vine pairs perfectly with the pastors’ “First Glance Podcast.” The Vine: First Glance Podcast is when the pastors sit down to discuss the scripture for the upcoming sermon. It is a wonderful opportunity to prepare your mind and heart for the week ahead. We invite you to make this a part of your individual spiritual growth throughout the week.

I Commit to Being a Witness...

“You will be my witnesses…”  (acts 1:8)

Before His ascension, Jesus gave His followers a clear mission: "You will be my witnesses." In the Book of Acts, we see the apostles, including Paul, boldly sharing the good news wherever they went. Their witness was not based on perfect lives but on transformed lives empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The call to witness is not limited to preaching or teaching. Often, the most powerful witness is found in acts of compassion, service, fellowship, and care for others. Through these actions, people experience the love and grace of God in tangible ways.

I have witnessed the power of faith through the ministries of this church community. From the hands that lovingly create quilts for those facing illness and hospitalization, to the support offered through Grief Share for those walking through loss, to Women's Fellowship gatherings that nurture friendship and spiritual growth, this congregation bears witness to God's presence. Through music ministries, God's message of hope is shared through worship and song. Bible studies and small groups provide opportunities to learn, pray, and grow alongside fellow believers. Each ministry reflects Christ's love and reminds us that no one is meant to walk life's journey alone.

Today, the call of Jesus remains the same: "You will be my witnesses." We are called to share what Christ has done in our lives through our words, actions, and compassion for others. This community is not an exclusive club or a place reserved for those who have everything figured out. It is a welcoming refuge for the lost, the broken, the lonely, and those searching for hope. Here, people are embraced, encouraged, and reminded that God's grace is greater than their struggles. As witnesses of Christ's love, we are also called to extend an invitation to others. Who can you invite to experience the fellowship, care, and hope found within this community of faith?

An Invitation

This week, look for someone who is facing a difficult situation or seeking a path forward. Share with them how your faith in Christ, or the support of this faith community, has encouraged and strengthened you. Invite them to experience the care, fellowship, and hope that you have found among God's people. Jesus said, "You will be my witnesses." Your words, your actions, and your invitation may be the very witness God uses to bring hope, healing, and direction to someone in need.
