Elementary
Children learn and grow in faith at First Church. From Sunday School to Vacation Bible School to Mission programs, children gather, sing, play, pray, and grow in God's love!
Sunday School
1st-5th: 9:40 - 10:40 am in Bldg. 5, West end of 2nd floor. The children learn the same scripture and Bible story over a one-month period in a different classroom or environment each week with a different form of teaching the lesson. For example, they learn through cooking, stories, games, science, and storytelling.
Kindergarten: 9:40 - 10:40 am in Bldg. 5 snd floor, West end of the send floor. Our kindergartners also experience four to five different workshop lessons each rotation but with more ease.
We provide a safe and exciting environment with engaging activities so your child looks forward to coming to church. We’ve created a secure environment so that you can feel at ease leaving your child in the care of our dedicated and caring staff and volunteers that are Ministry Safe certified. All children will need the current Children’s Ministry Registration Form for All Levels on file.
j-team
J-Team is designed for 3rd - 5th graders. Kids develop relationships in a fun, social environment at monthly events. J-Team prepares older elementary children for the later transition into our Student Ministry program. Children must check-in and check out with a First Church staff member. For more information on J-Team, please reach out to Whitney Kelley at whitney@fumc-rr.org.
First Church Kids in Mission
Serving as Christ’s hands extends from the oldest to the youngest at First Church. We have various mission projects throughout the year that children support during Sunday School. Children’s ministry has raised funds for the Heifer Project, collected supplies for an animal shelter, and donated items for the First Church Backpack Project. Mission projects are incorporated into other events such as VBS, Fall Festival, and more.
Special Events
Other special events for children and families are held throughout the year. Events like a walk through the Holy week, camps, and family events allow families to spend quality time together while sharing God’s love. Keep an eye out for those events at the children’s home age. We encourage families to sign up for the children’s e-news page so you may get all the latest information each week.
