Adult Sunday School

Adult Sunday School classes are an important component of finding a place to connecting and growing with others in our congregation. All of our classes welcome new people and would love to have you as their guest this Sunday. Visit several classes to see which best fits your needs and interests. 

Most classes meet “in person” at 9:40 am each Sunday morning in the Adkins Building 5.

Other classes meet virtually only. For class location, see room numbers listed below. For contact about virtual classes, see the church calendar.


By the Book

First Church’s “By The Book” Sunday School Class meets on Sundays at 2:15 pm only on Zoom with a variety of topics, teachers and leaders. To receive the zoom link, press “inquire” or e-mail AdultMinistry@fumc-rr.org.



Christ-Centered Conversations

A small group consisting of couples who come together for Bible-based study, fellowship, and to build supportive Christ-centered relationships.

F.I.S.H. – Families in Service to Him

A class for couples with mostly elementary to middle school students who enjoy topical studies, mission, and social events together. Combined in-person and virtual.

Friends and Seekers

A class with couples roughly 40 years to 50+ seeking a relationship with Jesus to better understand God’s role in their lives. Studies include Bible study, life application and marriage on a rotating basis.  All are welcome. The class meets in Building 5-232.



Good News Class

A class for adults, mostly 50+, that focuses on the Bible and how it relates to contemporary issues.

Journey in Faith

A class for adults and seniors which primarily studies the Bible, with periodic seasonal or short-term studies. This class meets “in person only.” This group hosts occasional fellowship activities, potlucks and game nights.

One in the Spirit

For (mostly) single adults, age 50 and up, this class focuses on the Bible and spiritual book studies with dynamic discussion including a wide variety of views and topics. The group goes to lunch together most Sundays and hosts other occasional social activities.

Open Door Class

A class for adults, age 60 and up, who discuss various topics including Bible studies, spiritual growth, discipleship and current events.

Paths to Positive Living

Adults of all ages and stages who are looking for a way to dig deeper into life and faith around the theme of living faithfully through positive living. The class generally does 5 – 8-week studies on a variety of topics. All are welcome. No registration needed. Just come!

Treaty Oak

A group of adults in their 50’s through 70’s that meets in person for leader-led Bible study and discussion. Treaty Oak meets in person in Building 5-234


The F.A.M.

Fathers and mothers of young children meet together at 11 am in Building 5 Room 127. Childcare is provided.
