Heart to Heart Quilting Ministry

Join us in this amazing ministry!

In 2025, 682 quilts were delivered to both local Dell Children's Hospitals and Texas Children's Hospital - Williamson County. Quilts were also provided to children in crisis at the Williamson County Children's Advocacy Center, Families in Transition & Foster Care, Rainbow Room, and Wonders & Worries.

A special highlight from 2025 was Santa helping to deliver 50 Baby’s First Christmas quilts to children in the hospitals this past December. Quilters created 68 quilts in January alone and we would love for you to come check us out! Email quilters@fumc-rr.org.

Quilters strive to follow the example of the Lord Jesus Christ to comfort the afflicted by providing quilts to children ages 17 years and younger with catastrophic illnesses or in difficult social situations. They pray as they stitch love into every quilt. Join the quilters on Thursdays at 9:30 am or 5:30 pm at 115 Winsted House on our campus.

If you have never quilted, we will teach you. If you already have basic sewing or quilting skills, we will help you get started making children’s quilts. You don’t need to bring any supplies to your first meeting. We will supply what you need to get started. Come and join us…morning or evening! For more information, email Quilters@fumc-rr.org.

fUMC CRAFTERS ministry

The Crafters are working to create cute items for their Spring Sale, which will be Sunday, May 3rd.

The Crafters would like to thank you for your support of their Craft Sale on November 2nd. They were able to raise $3,379! for two groups: Saint Louise House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the success of women and their children moving from homelessness to healthy independent lives.  Caritas of Austin believes that when every person has a stable place to call home, they can realize their full potential & contribute to our community. We build well-being by making sure that people have a safe home, access to healthy grocery, jobs that provide a reliable living wage & educational opportunities to learn life skills.

Crafters use their crafting talents to create items for the spring and fall craft sales to monetarily support First Church and community organizations through mission projects. They meet on Tuesdays (except the 3rd Tuesday) from 9:30 am - 12 noon, at 115 Winsted House on our campus. For more information email crafters@fumc-rr.org.

Good News Sunday School Class

Journey in Faith Sunday School Class

The Journey in Faith Sunday School class meets each week in room 127. It is made up of adults and seniors but new members are always welcome. Journey in Faith is currently doing a study entitled, This study is titled "That the World May Know" and uses the format of short video clips in various parts of the Holy Land followed by explanation of the cultural and religious significance of that area and what happened there either at the time of Jesus or before or after. They are currently studying "God Heard Their Cry." It focuses on what life was like for the Hebrews while they were in bondage in Egypt and what God had to do to get them out of Egypt and to also get "Egypt" out of the Hebrews.

Paths to Positive Living Sunday SChool Class

Paths to Positive Living (PPL) is a mixed-age adult Sunday School class and life group that studies the writings of contemporary Christian authors who apply Biblical principles to real-life issues we face daily at different stages of our lives. Each week group moderators take turns leading discussions, intercessory prayer, praise reports, and group fellowship. The class meets in person as well as via Zoom from 9:40-10:40 a.m. in Rm. 145 of the Adkins Bldg.

Our current study will conclude this Sunday, February 22nd.  It is The Gospel of John by Amy-Jill Levine.

Our Lenten study will begin on  March 1st.  It is The Grace of Les Miserables by Matt Rawle.  In this six-week study, author and pastor Matt Rawle dives into six ideals found in the story—grace, justice, poverty, revolution, love, and hope—each represented by a character in Hugo’s story. As these imperfect and relatable characters interact, we can see how these ideals work together (perhaps even in spite of each other) out in the world.

It’s time to plan 2026! We met on February 8th to begin planning the remainder of 2026 and through Easter of 2027.  We are reviewing suggested studies and will meet again on March 8th after 11:00 service to choose our studies and complete our calendar.  We still have lots of studies that need review.  If you are willing to review a study and give us your recommendation, let Laura know. It is not required that you read the entire study, just enough to get an idea whether it would be suitable for our class. Many thanks to everyone who has already volunteered.

Visitors and guests are always welcome. Y’all come!
