Dinner at 5:30 pm *** Concert at 6:30 pm

Family Life Center – First United Methodist Church, Round Rock

Each year the First Church Handbell Ministry hosts a Pops concert. This very popular event is a benefit which stars our two 5-octave adult bell teams, Jubilation and Council Oak Bells. Also featured is the dynamic Sound of Joy Bell Quartet, as well as special guest singers and instrumentalists. Beyond the wonderful music, Pops is an event which transforms our Family Life Center (Building 3) into a dinner theatre atmosphere. Tables are decorated and the stage is set for an evening of family fellowship, music, and fun! Audience members are asked to bring peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to gourmet as those in attendance enjoy one another’s company for dinner. Beverages (tea, lemonade, water and coffee) are provided by an eager wait staff. A concert follows the meal…full of music one might not expect to hear from handbells! Old Hollywood, current and 70’s pop, classical transcriptions and original works are all included in this year’s musical menu! And we always include a few surprises!

This year, all profits collected at Pops went directly to The First Church Backpack Project in honor of First Church Member, Kathy Ford. Kathy one of the founders and current director of the Backpack Coalition, a non-profit organization based in Round Rock. The First Church Backpack Project is a part of this coalition and works specifically to provide food for weekend meals and snacks to students in need at Wells Branch Elementary and Bluebonnet Elementary. Both of these schools are Title One schools and among the neediest in our immediate area. Ringers will perform in honor of Kathy and all her selfless volunteers who seek to feed needy children who live locally in order that these children be given an opportunity to learn and succeed.

Audience members were asked to secure reserved table seating prior to the event. Each year, table seating at the Pops show is reserved. Most tables seat 6 people. These tickets are free of charge. Ten premium tables are available for a donation of $100 each. These premium round tables seat 8. This year, table tickets went fast! We packed the house!

We invite you to join us for Pops 2018 next May 5! You won’t want to miss the fun!
