Worship is primarily an expression of our desire to connect with God. Though God is present in all aspects of our living, we set apart a time designed that we as individuals and as a community might encounter God in a special way. We find that through song, prayer, preaching, communion, baptism, and community, when we are present to God and God is present to us something holy happens. Worship in its formal setting is also designed as an expression of our need for community. Thus at First Church, our worship services are central to who we are. When you come to worship we hope you will come with an expectation that you will encounter the living God and meet others with whom you might join on a journey of discovery and faith.
