In 2013 First United Methodist Church began an outreach to the community by providing Thanksgiving meals to low income families in local elementary schools. The first year we provided meals to 60 families at 5 elementary schools.
Over the years this ministry to our community has been adopted by many members of our congregation, which has allowed us to feed even more families each year. in 2018 we fed 275 families Thanksgiving meals! Each family receives a full Thanksgiving meal to include the turkey and pie!
As this ministry has grown over the years we have expanded to include more schools and organizations. This year we will serve the following elementary schools: Berkman, Double File, Callison, Robertson, Union Hill and Voigt. We will also include Success High School, Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Texas National Guard and Boys to Men of God/ Daughters of the King.
This outreach to our community is only possible through generous donations of food, volunteers delivering the meals and volunteers helping organize and distribute the meals.
We are looking for 100 Volunteers to Deliver Meals!!!
