Scouting Ministry Sunday
Each week they come—hundreds of thousands of boys and girls ages 6 to 17 years, streaming into United Methodist churches for after-school or early evening meetings.
Some of the children and youth are Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. Others are Campfire or 4-H members. All are part of the youth-serving/scouting ministry umbrella of The United Methodist Church. It is an intentional ministry opportunity that allows us to support, shape, and influence the lives of children and youth.
Scouting is an often-overlooked door for United Methodists to go into their community and for the community to take the first step into the church. Scouting Ministries Sunday is an opportunity to recognize those involved in the ministry and invite others to join.
We are grateful to have many current and former Scouts sharing life with us at First Church. We are proud to sponsor Boy Scout Troop #157 at First Church. Scout leaders faithfully invest their time and energy into the lives of 106 active Scouts during their weekly meetings, monthly campouts, education and skill training, and service projects. You may have seen our Scouts serving during our Trunk or Treat/Fall Festival, working hard sprucing up our campus during our recent Scrub-A-Dub days, and countless other service projects at our church and in our community.
We are proud of all our Scouts and their example of character, service, and servant leadership! Be sure to shake the hand of one of our Scouts today and thank them for sharing life and ministry with us at First Church!
