“As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another,
as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.” I Peter 4:10
Children’s Sunday School is only possible through the partnership of many volunteers each and every Sunday. Each rotation in Walk of Faith is four to five weeks long. A volunteer can commit to one rotation, as a sub, or whatever fits their schedule. There are two very important jobs in Walk of Faith:
- Teachers – There are a variety of workshops in Walk of Faith. During the school year, each of the workshops approach a Bible story or lesson in a different way. Teachers will teach the same lesson, in the same room to different children for 4-5 consecutive weeks.
- Shepherds – Shepherds are needed each Sunday to accompany the students in the workshops. This is a weekly commitment which requires no preparation. Some shepherds volunteer for one rotation, some for an entire year, and some offer to fill in on an emergency basis. Shepherds take attendance and offering, and assist the teacher. The shepherd and the kids often develop a close relationship because they are together each and every week.
For Walk of Faith to be successful, we are in need of 25-40 adult volunteers for Sundays during the school year and 15 to 20 volunteers for Summer Sundays. If you are interested in joining the incredible group of volunteers for Walk of Faith – for a year, a month or on an as-needed basis, please email Tammy Parks at email@example.com. You’ll be glad you did!
The Kids For Christ Council is a task force of parents interested in serving in the areas of children’s programming along with the Children’s Ministries Team. Its Mission is to offer guidance and support for ministry to families with children ages birth through fifth grade. The council meets every other month. All parents are encouraged to complete a KFC Council Volunteer Information Form indicating the area or areas in which they would like to help. The Council members serve as chairs of the various areas. Chairman for the 2016-17 school year is Rhanda Schrank.
We invite new members to join our council at any time of the year. Please join us or call the church office for more information. Contact the church office at (512) 255-3336, ext. 128 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are looking for some smiling faces to assist with ushers and greeters on Sundays
Children’s Ministry has a new partnership with the usher and the greeter team. Our goal is to get children more involved in service. If your child would like to be paired up with an adult greeter or usher, he/she will be put on the usher or greeter schedule with their “buddy” each time that adult is scheduled. Greeters need to arrive 15 minutes before service (8:15 and 10:45). Greeters hold the doors open and greet people with kind words and a smile. Ushers will arrive 10 minutes before services to pass out bulletins and get instructions for passing the offering plates. Ushers also help straighten up the sanctuary after service. Email Jennifer@fumc-rr.org if interested.
