Vacation Bible School 2019
VBS 2019 will be on June 17-21 and June 24-28 9 am to 12 pm
“ROAR! Life is Wild. God is good.”
Registration is now closed as we are in our final preparations for VBS.
The main component of our VBS is for children entering kindergarten- 4th grade in the fall of 2019. We also have an exciting mission-based program for children entering 5th grade. Participants in the 5th grade component will start and end VBS in worship in the sanctuary, with everyone. From 9:30-11:30, the 5th graders are involved in mission projects, some on campus and others offsite. It is a great opportunity for children to experience different kinds of service so they know where they enjoy serving. We also have a preschool component of our VBS program, for children of VBS volunteers. If you are volunteering and have a child 2 and under, childcare is available.
Camp Triumph Sports Camp will once again be on our campus to offer an “after VBS” Sports Camp from 12 pm to 4 pm, Monday through Thursday for children ages 5-12. Camp Triumph is only offered June 17-20. All children registered for VBS and Camp Triumph may be dropped off at 9 am and picked up at 4 pm. Camp Triumph registrants will need to bring a lunch with them in the morning. Camp Triumph counselors will transfer registered children from the closing worship in the sanctuary to the Family Life Center. Parents will pick up children in the Family Life Center at 4 pm. A driver’s license will be required each day for pickup.
2018 Recap: WOW! We had an amazing two weeks of VBS at First Church!
222 children June 18-22, 221 different children in week 2, and 100+ volunteers each week, ranging in age from 11-82! Mark your calendars for June 2019! There is a job for everyone and it’s so much fun! Many volunteers thanked me for allowing them to be part of VBS! All participants learned that Jesus Rescues from loneliness, worry, struggle, sin, and powerlessness.
The excitement of the children and their enthusiasm for mission was inspiring! June 18-22, children in the 5th-grade mission program took 222 pounds of food to the Round Rock Area Serving Center.$649.29 was brought in for Operation Kid-to-Kid. We will be purchasing drought-resistant seeds for children in Haiti. During week 2, June 25-29, children in 5th-grade mission program took the 585 pounds of nonperishable food brought by VBS participants to the Round Rock Area Serving Center.$793.19 was brought in for Operation Kid-to-Kid! An anonymous donor contributed $400 and Emerson Davis, age 4, donated $12.75 from her lemonade stand. First Church will be donating $1855.23 to the Operation Kid-to-Kid mission and feeding 100 children in Haiti for one year. Way to go!
In addition to VBS worship, our 5th-grade mission children prepared food for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Austin on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They visited residents at Wyoming Springs Assisted Living and Hearthstone. They also made dog biscuits for WILCO in our church kitchen and made placemats for MADD. Serving in so many different places gives them an opportunity to decide what kind of service they enjoy.
