Vacation Bible School 2017
Children’s Ministries is celebrating two tremendously successful weeks of Maker Fun Factory Vacation Bible School, held June 12-16 and June 19-23! We had participants of all ages and it was exciting to see the wide span of generations from preschoolers to grandparents. Almost 400 children, 102 older children (youth helpers) and 135 adult volunteers gathered on our campus from 9-12 each day to learn that we are made by God and built for a purpose. Each day began and ended with worship in the sanctuary. Participants of all ages enjoyed the music, skits and dancing! All five of the stations reinforced the Bible points for the day: God made you, God is for you, God is always with you, God will always love you and God made you for a reason.
VBS Missions were Operation Kid to Kid and the Round Rock Area Serving Center. In the two weeks of VBS, children brought $1562.35 that will be used to purchase clean water for 231 children for one year in Peru! Over 1200 pounds of nonperishable goods were brought by children to donate to the Round Rock Serving Center. The food pantry gets bare during the summer months, so they were so grateful for our donations!
Fifth graders were focused on a different mission each day between opening and closing worship. Missions the fifth graders worked on while on the church campus included making dog biscuits for WILCO and placemats for Drive a Senior. Fifth graders also had the opportunity to go off campus to serve at the Ronald McDonald House in Austin and Texas Baptist Children’s Home, where they made lunch for the families staying there. They also visited Wyoming Springs Assisted Living and Hearthstone Senior Center, where they spent time doing different activities with residents. Finally, the fifth graders visited the Round Rock Area Serving Center where they toured the facility and stocked the food pantry with over pounds of non-perishable food items!
We are grateful for the opportunity to reach so many children and families and look forward to next year’s VBS: Shipwrecked! Saved by Jesus! Watch for registration for participants and volunteers in March 2018!
