Resurrection Celebration

Resurrection Celebration

Resurrection Celebration has become one of our Holy Week traditions for families at First Church. The event will be held on Palm Sunday, April 14th, with start times from  9:30-11 am.  At this event, children, accompanied by parents, will experience five events that occurred during Holy Week. There will be volunteers in costume and “in character” portraying someone who was actually present during Holy Week. They will talk about the importance of each event in terms children can understand. Begin your journey on Palm Sunday with Lewis the donkey, who will be grazing under the Council Oak Tree (weather permitting), near the playground.

We are asking families to sign up for a time to begin their Walk through Holy Week. We hope the sign up will decrease the amount of time spent waiting in line outside of stations. Do allow 50 minutes to visit all five stations.  Resurrection Celebration will be in lieu of Sunday School for children in kindergarten-4th grade.  Preschool classes will still meet as some of the content of Resurrection Celebration is difficult for them to grasp.  Crossing Point for 5th grade will also meet at normal time.

In order to allow all of our volunteers to worship with their own families, on Easter Sunday, there will be no Sunday School or Bible Buddies. Childcare for 2 years and younger will be in Pod C at the 9:00 and 11:00 am services.
