Central Texas Conference Mediterranean Cruise

Paul’s 4th Missionary Journey Cruise

Sponsored by Central Texas United Methodist Conference

October 1-10, 2017

The Apostle Paul is second only to Jesus Christ in the impact he had and continues to have on the Christian Church.  Church leaders throughout the last 2,000 years have consistently turned to Paul’s letters for guidance as they interpreted Scripture and established doctrine and church organization.  If you ever wanted to trace the footsteps of Paul on his missionary journeys and learn more about this man this is the time.

The Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church has joined with Educational Opportunities Tours, a Christian travel planning group, to sponsor a Mediterranean Cruise in October of 2017.

The tour will follow Paul’s Fourth Missionary Journey in reverse, beginning in Rome, cruising down the Italian coast, then to Sicily, Malta, some of the Greek Islands, and ending in Athens.  To complement the sightseeing, Conference Bishop Mike Lowry, Reverend John McKeller, senior pastor of White’s Chapel UMC, and Reverend Todd Renner, Co-pastor at White’s Chapel, will provide lectures and sermons on Paul.  The Music Director at White’s Chapel will put together a special choir from the tour participants to sing during the trip.  In addition, there will be a  2 1/2 day pre-tour stay in Rome and a 2 day post-tour stay in Athens available.  The First Church Round Rock group is considering adding a few days in Venice to the trip as another option.

Rich Thompson, teacher of the Journey In Faith adult Sunday School class, is putting together a group of participants from First United Methodist Round Rock.  Rich and his wife Chris, have participated in five trips to the Middle East with EO, the first two as travelers and the last three as hosts.

The trip is limited to 690 people, the capacity of the cruise ship.  The trip is expected to fill up quickly because of the quality of the speakers as well as the wonderful places that will be visited.

There are brochures in the church office, in the sanctuary narthex, and the Family Life Center foyer for people who are interested and want to register for the cruise.  For additional information, contact  Rich Thompson at rich.thompson@sbcglobal.net or 512.694.6729.
