Support Groups

Grief Support

Losing a loved one is never easy. Coping with grief and loss is arguably one of the hardest things you will ever have to endure in life. Sadness, loneliness, and fear are only a few of the experiences we may feel when we lose someone we love.  First Church offers a 12 week curriculum based GriefShare Group periodically, as need is identified. This group is designed to be a place of support through sharing, learning and caring.

The next group will begin on Sunday, January 19 at 4 pm.

If you, or someone you know, is grieving the death of a loved one, we hope you will consider being a part of the next group.  For more information, please contact Rae Frenette at 512-255-3336.
If you are interested in joining the next group, please sign up below.

Grief Group Registration

Register here if you’re interested in the next Grief Group (depending on need, probably beginning in the fall). Meeting date and time to be determined by the group.

Divorce Recovery

If you are going through divorce or rebuilding your life after divorce, Divorce Recovery is offered periodically.  Using renowned divorce therapist Dr. Bruce Fisher’s  Rebuilding When Your Relationship Ends , this 10 week session works through the building blocks to help put your life back together in a healthy and less traumatic process.  For information about the next Divorce Recovery group, contact Dr. Will Cotton, or 512-255-3336.

Parents and Loved Ones of LGBT People

A support group for parents and loved ones of those who have identified themselves as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi, or transgender) is offered periodically. This is not a group for those wanting to debate theologically the issue of homosexuality. It is not a group that will advocate for one side or other of the issue. It is for people who may land on either side of the theological debate, but still want to be in loving and supportive relationship with a family member who has come out. This group will offer a space where people are free to deal with the struggles of faith, parenting, and caring for LGBT children and loved ones. For more information on the next one, please contact Dr. Will Cotton, or 512-255-3336.
