Chancel Choir is a group of adults who enjoy singing together to create a musical presence for the 11:00 service at First Church and beyond. Their repertoire is diverse, including contemporary works, hymn anthems, traditional sacred music, spirituals and gospel songs, and a cappella choral settings.
Rehearsal: Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. in the South Suite (Choir Room)
HeartSong vocal ensemble of adults, specializing in sacred music in contemporary as well as traditional styles, leads praise at the 8:30 a.m. worship service.
Rehearsal: Wednesdays 6 to 7 pm in the South Suite Choir Room.
During Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter or to sing major works, singers in Chancel Choir and HeartSong join together to form the First Church Choral Union. This combined group enjoys performing sacred music concerts and sharing their love of God and music beyond First Church. Choral Union has performed in Carnegie Hall, National Cathedral in Washington D.C., Scotland, Ireland and Canada.

Student musicians as well as professional musicians and all levels in between participate in the First Church Orchestra. The Orchestra plays during the 11:00 worship service. It joins the Choral Union in major works and special services.
Rehearsal: Thursdays from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m. in South Suite.
Ensembles, both choral and instrumental, enjoy singing or playing together at different times of the year.
Meet the Director of Music Ministries
Michael Rosensteel earned his Bachelors of Arts degree and teacher certification from San Diego State University in Music Education. He received his Master’s degree, in Choral Conducting, from the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas at Austin.
He has conducted numerous vocal and instrumental ensembles, ranging from children’s choir, youth choir, to adult choir, chamber ensembles, hand bells, and orchestras. Michael has been Music Director for nearly 40 theater productions.
Michael has performed in several musical theater and opera productions, and has been a guest soloist and conductor for several choir tours to Ireland, Austria, Canada, Hungary, Germany, Czech. Republic, Ukraine and Russia. He has performed with the University of Texas’ Early Music Ensemble in Washington D.C. for several Latin American embassies. He is a member of Texas Choral Director’s Association (TCDA) and Texas Private School Music Educators Association (TPSMEA). He has taught in churches and schools for over 20 years. He currently serves as the Director of Music at First United Methodist Church of Round Rock (TX.), as well as the Artistic Director for the Round Rock Community Choir. His choirs have toured throughout the United States, competed in NATS (National Assoc. of Teachers of Singing) vocal competitions, All-State Choir, and have performed at Carnegie Hall and The National Cathedral.
Michael and his wife, Stacey, have two wonderful children, Allison and Luke.
