8:30am Worship Service

The "early service" at 8:30 a.m. Sunday is a relaxed, informal service, with music generally led by "HeartSong", a smaller choir, and featuring a mix of contemporary and traditional songs and arrangements. This service has fewer liturgical features than our traditional service.

Children through kindergarten have a special time in most services, coming to the altar area for a "children's sermon" and then being released to Bible Buddies if they (and their parents") wish.

Messages, usually preached by Senior Pastor David Adkins, generally follow the Christian year and Common Lectionary readings.

Communion is regularly celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, while on other Sundays, an informal celebration of the sacrament is held following this service.

The 9:40 a.m. Sunday service is a contemporary praise and worship service.  A rapidly growing and relatively new worship opportunity to First Church, this service seeks to blend the latest in music and multimedia with some of the more traditional elements of song and worship. Musically, you can expect to hear a mix of recently released worship music along with modern adaptations of hymntunes and slightly older praise and worship melodies. You'll even recognize many of the songs from Christian radio. All this is an attempt by our worship team to create for you an opportunity to worship in spirit and in truth. 11:00am Worship Service

The 11:00 a.m. Sunday service is the most traditional service at First Church. It is the most formal, with full choirs, congregational responses, and the historic hymns and liturgies of the church. From time to time, guest musicians are present.

Children are included as childrens choirs, and Handbell ensembles often share their music. The youngest children also have the opportunity for Bible Buddies education following the Children's sermon.

Scripture and messages usually follow the Common Lectionary through the church year, and are normally preached by Senior Pastor David Adkins.

Holy communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of most months. (It is also celebrated informally on other weeks following the 8:30 a.m. service.)

The 6:00 p.m. Sunday service is a contemporary praise and worship service. This service is a cutting edge service which utilizes all the latest media, songs and thematic content to create a uniquely life-changing worship experience. The most current music by David Crowder Band, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman and many more is played by our CrossRoads band at full volume! You'll find many of the congregants of this service dancing, singing at the top of their lungs, bowing before God and all-in-all expressing their faith in bold and unashamed ways.
