The Balkum Bells!

On Sunday, July 29, the 8:30 and 11am services at First Church Round Rock were blessed with ringing from a very special team of ringers. The Balkum family - Lori, Stephen, Alexander, Kailynn and Ashley - are all experienced ringers. Dad Stephen is a regular participant in our First Church Orchestra, so doesn't ring regularly during the school year . . . but the rest of the family is active within our ministry during the academinc part of the worship arts season. "We're so blessed to have this talented family ring during the less active summer months," exclaims Carla David, Director of the First Church Handbell Ministry. "It's difficult to maintain our regular schedule of rehearsals this time of year because of summer vacations. And our congregation really misses the sound of bells during the summer This fulfilled that desire to hear these beautiful instruments!"

The Balkum Bells rang "Give Thanks" and "Fairest Lord Jesus" at services on July 29. "It was definitely a family affair," jokes Mom Lori. "We're all on different busy summer schedules, so making time for rehearsals was a challenge. But the payoff is that we came together on Sunday to ring to God's glory. That felt good."

The Balkums are one family. The Handbell Ministry is also family within itself. We invite all to ring handbells at First Church. Are you an experienced ringer from another church?
