Jesus teaches us that life is found, paradoxically, when we give it away. Generosity and service not only convey God’s love and care for others but also bring the giver into new life as well. In the United Methodist tradition, we understand our calling to new life to be both personal and social. That means that we care for the wellbeing of others, both spiritually and physically. This moves us to serve others in Jesus’ name. We serve at the church in order to provide a spiritual home for as many people as possible. We serve the community in order to help others become fully alive through ministries of both charity and justice.
