Youth in grades six through eight are invited to join us on February 28 to begin a God and Church Award program at First Church. You may choose one of two classes offered. The morning class will meet at 11 am in "Building 5 - 122. The evening class will meet at 7 pm in Building 5 - 122. Classes will meet February 28, March 7, 21 & 28, April 11 & 25 and May 2 & 16.

The God and Church program will lead young people on a journey. It will be a faith journey with three parts: meeting Jesus, worshiping God, and witnessing and ministering for Christ. Participants will create either a video or a photo album to share what they have learned on their faith journeys. Young people will have the opportunity to work with their pastor or other Christian adult as they study the church's structures and objectives and participate in service projects that will give them a better understanding of the mission of the church.

The cost of this program is $20.00 which covers the price of the student workbook and the award medal. This program is officially recognized by the Boy Scouts of America, Camp Fire USA, Girl Scouts of the USA and the American Heritage Girls as the religious awards program for youth in our church and youth in those organizations are particularly encouraged to attend. In addition to participating in the meetings and completing the projects, youth are required to share what they have learned with the pastor before they are eligible for the award.

Mike Sheppard and Kerstin Joos will facilitate the morning class. Tim Dunnahoo and Brian Booth will facilitate the evening class.
Each class is limited to 12 students and each student must register on line before February 26. Payment will be taken at the first class on February 28.
