What type of mission experiences can I participate in? Here at First Church we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to change the world through mission, regardless of age or ability. There are a variety of opportunities for you to participate in ranging from one day events in our local area to week long experiences reaching other states and even other countries.
How much do mission trips cost? The one day mission experiences (One Now, District Y.E.A.H., etc) generally range in cost from $25 - $50. Week long summer missions require more of a financial committment. The cost is broken down into two catagories - room/board/materials expenses and the van rental/fuel expenses.
Who can go on mission trip? Successful mission trips require both youth and adult participation.
High School Trip: Students are eligable to participate beginning in the summer after their 8th grade year through the summer after their senior year in high school. Adults (25 yrs and older), who meet the mission requirements as set by the Outreach Council are eligable to participate.
Middle School Trip: Students are eligable to participate beginning in the summer after their 6th grade year through the summer after their 8th grade year. Young adults (18 - 24 yrs), who meet the mission requirements as set by the Outreach Council are eligable to participate. Adults (25 yrs and older), who meet the mission requirements as set by the Outreach Council are eligable to participate.
What if I don't have enough money to pay for a mission trip? For the week long summer mission trips there are fund raising options available for everyone who wants to participate that will cover the cost's associated up to 100%. There are also limited scholarships available for all mission experiences. Make an appointment with the youth staff to privately discuss the options that would work best for you.
Students: You will need to turn in a mission trip registration form, FUMC medical release form and a front & back copy of your health insurance card.
Adults: You will need to turn in a mission trip registration form, front & back copy of your health insurance card, and copy of your drivers license.
