Congregational Care
Congregational Care at First Church is always a concern. We want to be able to lend our support and encouragement to all our members, in whatever ways we can. This means we are always listening for the needs expressed by our members and friends, and asking them to share needs with us when they are aware of them.
We have several programs which are currently seeking to meet a variety of needs.
- Our Hospital Visitation Ministry is a team of people trained to visit those hospitalized for extended periods, and those who are homebound. We visit all the local hospitals, and solicit input on who might be hospitalized.
- We have an active Stephen Ministry which seeks to provide a listening and caring presence for those who have been dealing with crisis in their lives. This is one - on - one Christian caregiving by church members who have been trained in confidential caregiving.
- Our MOM: the Ministry of Motherhood group is a place for all mothers looking for a place to connect. We are a network of Christian friends striving to support one another by offering strength, encouragement and prayers to be the wife and mother God intended.
- We have a group whose mission is a Meals Ministry for families attending funerals at the church, or who have just come home from the hospital or have other needs for a few meals.
- Our Military Support ministry deals with people with whom our congregation is connected who are serving in the United States Armed Forces. This includes correspondence, prayers, care packages and recognition within our congregation. We solicit the names of people who are serving or have served.
- Andrew Ministry is a group of trained volunteers who greet and assist newcomers to the First Church campus. They are experts in what goes on here and they make a connection with everyone who visits here.
- The Mentor Family program is made up of member families who work with new families to our church in order to help them feel welcome and make a connection in our congregation.
