Jesse Tree Workshop
The tradition of the Jesse Tree comes to us from Eurrope. The "tree" is usually a branch or sapling, but it can be a real tree or a wall hanging. It is decorated with various symbols that remind us of the purposes and promises of God from creation to the birth of Jesus Christ. Jesse was the father of King David. God promised David that his kingdom would last forever and through him and his seed God would save his people and bless the world.
Once again this year a workshop to prepare for Advent will be offered for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade and a parent. This workshop will connect the Walk of Faith lessons on Jacob and Joseph this fall with the coming of the Messiah for our elementary age children. We will learn about the symbols and make ornaments to decorate a Jesse Tree to take home and use for Advent. The class will be Sunday, November 19 in Room 127 in Building 5, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Enjoy the church-wide Thanksgiving dinner and then attend this workshop. Cost will be $10.00 to cover the cost of materials. Please contact Judy Pearson by November 14 at 255-3336 or judy@fumc-rr.org to reserve a space in the class.
