The devastation of Hurricane Harvey continues to be overwhelming…and the people of God at First United Methodist Church Round Rock are responding with generous love. Below are some of the ways you can be part of clean-up and restoration for our sisters and brother in south Texas. Thanks in advance for the difference you make in the name of Christ.
Thank you! We met and far exceeded the $10K goal, so we doubled the amount of Flood Buckets and Health Kits that were assembled for delivery to Harvey victims. Your generous gifts provided additional funds, some of which were used to purchase materials for flood buckets, and some will provide valuable funding for equipment and supplies for the Disaster Response team as they move forward in training and response. The first team deployed to the Texas coast in mid-October. The focus has shifted from providing materials to finding those people willing to serve those still in need, and equipping those teams. We’ve formed a Disaster Response Team to help with the recovery. If you want to be a part of a team that goes into areas affected by disaster, you need to be trained. The recovery effort for these kinds of disasters can last 5 years or more. We’re going to need your help to clean, clear, and rebuild. To get trained, email our coordinator David Scott, firstname.lastname@example.org.
For more information about any aspect of Disaster Response, you can contact our coordinator, David Scott, email@example.com, or call the church office at 512.255.3336.
