Each Spring students who are in 7th grade and older have the opportunity to go through Confirmation classes and learn explore what it means to be a Christian, key Biblical principles, and the United Methodist Church. Through the Confirmation journey, students learn what it means to be responsible for their own faith and ultimately claim their faith as their own.  Classes will start January 6, 2018 and will run 14 weeks during the 9:40 Sunday School hour and concludes in a special confirmation worship service on April 7, 2019. This study includes a mandatory weekend retreat January 19-21, 2019 and excursions to other faith services. There will be an information meeting for parents on September 24, 2018 from 9:40 – 10:40. You can also contact Jodi Marfell at jodi@fumc-rr.org for more information. Registration will close on December 1st. (There is a $100 fee to cover the costs of the retreat and other supplies, but there are scholarships available if the cost might prevent someone from participating.)

Confirmation Class Expectations

  • Attend Confirmation Classes on Sunday mornings.  Class begins January 6 and runs for 14 weeks (not meeting on February 24 or March 10).
  • Attend the following:
    • Congregation Beth Israel (Jewish synagogue) on January 25 – Service is at 7pm. Meet at the synagogue at 6:45pm.
    • St. John Vianney Catholic Church on February 16 – Service is at 5:30pm. Meet at St. John Vianney at 5:15pm.
    • Baptism/Communion service on March 31 at 6pm in the Family Life Center
    • Confirmation service on April 7 at 6pm in the sanctuary – Reception will follow at 7pm.
    • The weekend retreat is MANDATORY. The dates of the retreat are January 19-21, 2019. Parents must drop off and pick up students at Highland Lakes Camp on Lake Travis.
  • Students are required to complete at least 8 hours of mission work between September 2018 and March 2019.  Students will document the date, where they served and what they did.
  • Students cannot miss more than 2 weekly sessions. Students will need to complete any sessions they miss on their own time.
