In 2013 the Student Ministries program began an outreach to the community by providing Thanksgiving meals to low income families in local elementary schools. The first year we provided meals to 60 families at 5 elementary schools.
Over the years this ministry to our community has been adopted by many members of our congregation, which has allowed us to feed even more families each year. in 2017 we fed 374 families Thanksgiving meals! Each family includes a full Thanksgiving meal to include the turkey and pie!
As this ministry has grown over the years we have expanded to include more schools and organizations. This year we will serve the following elementary schools: Berkman, Blue Bonnet, Caldwell Heights, Robertson, Union Hill, Voigt and Wells Branch. We will also include Success High School, Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Texas National Guard and Boys to Men of God/ Daughters of the King.
This outreach to our community is only possible through generous donations of food, volunteers delivering the meals and volunteers helping organize and distribute the meals. Grab a bag this Sunday, October 14th, or from the Church office next week to provide a family with a Thanksgiving meal! We will be collecting bags until November 11th.
We are looking for 100 Volunteers to Deliver Meals!!!
