Creative Arts at First Church
Do you like to create things with your hands? First Church has several opportunities for anyone who likes to sew or craft!
The Heart to Heart Quilt Ministry shares God’s love through beautiful, warm, handmade quilts that are given to children in crisis. They pray as they stitch love into every quilt. Join the quilters on Thursdays, 9:30 am-12 pm. at Winsted House. For more information, please contact: Marie Schlameus at 512-468-4247 or Norma Creel or 512-255-4565.
The drawing for the Heart to Heart fund raising quilt was held after the 11 am service on October 30. Reverend Katie Meek did the honors and Larry Stanford was the happy winner. We are very grateful to everyone who contributed. Your contribution ensures we will continue our mission with funds on hand for needed supplies for 2017.Thank you one and all. We cannot do this without your support.
First Church Crafters use their crafting talents to create items for the spring and fall Buttons and Bows craft shows to monetarily support First Church and community organizations through mission projects. We meet Tuesdays, except the 3rd Tuesday, at the Winsted House from 9:30 am to noon. Join us on Tuesday mornings or for more information please contact Diane Brault or Lynn McCelland.
First Church Crafters invite you to join them for their annual Buttons and Bows Spring Fling on Sunday, May 7, from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm in the Gazebo. Exquisite creations have been crafted just for you – everything from unique household items, clothing and accessories to beautiful jewelry all made from mostly donated items. Proceeds from this sale will be donated to various missions such as Hope Alliance, Drops of Grace, Caring Angels, Pillowcase Project, Round Rock Serving Center, and others. First Church Crafters hope to see you there.
Counted Cross Stitch
First Church member Posy Lough has been translating America and American history into counted cross stitch kits for more than three decades. All of her kits have an underlying theme relating to our American heritage. Now she has created some beautiful counted cross stitch kits for the east and west stained glass windows of the First Church sanctuary. Posy and her husband, Tom, are donating the charts and instructions for stitchers to enjoy. Click the link below to download the project instructions. Thanks to church member Kim Hollifield for finishing the sample ornaments shown.
Thank you, Posy, for sharing your incredible gift with us. You exemplify one of the many ways to be in servant leadership at First Church.
