Creative Arts at First Church
Do you like to create things with your hands? First Church has several opportunities for anyone who likes to sew or craft!
The Heart to Heart Quilt Ministry shares God’s love through beautiful, warm, handmade quilts that are given to children in crisis. They pray as they stitch love into every quilt. Join the quilters on Thursdays, 9:30 am-12 pm. at Winsted House. For more information, please contact: Marie Schlameus at 512-468-4247 or Norma Creel or 512-255-4565.
First Church Crafters use their crafting talents to create items for the spring and fall craft sales to monetarily support First Church and community organizations through mission projects. We meet Tuesdays, except the 3rd Tuesday, at the Winsted House from 9:30 am to noon. Join us on Tuesday mornings or for more information please contact Diane Brault or Lynn McCelland. Click for details about the Spring Fling Craft Sale on Sunday, May 6.
Counted Cross Stitch
First Church member Posy Lough has been translating America and American history into counted cross stitch kits for more than three decades. All of her kits have an underlying theme relating to our American heritage. Now she has created some beautiful counted cross stitch kits for the east and west stained glass windows of the First Church sanctuary. Posy and her husband, Tom, are donating the charts and instructions for stitchers to enjoy. Click the link below to download the project instructions. Thanks to church member Kim Hollifield for finishing the sample ornaments shown.
Thank you, Posy, for sharing your incredible gift with us. You exemplify one of the many ways to be in servant leadership at First Church.
