Ash Wednesday is March 1
Every year the church takes forty days to prepare for the cross on Good Friday and the empty tomb on Easter Sunday. We call this season Lent. It is a solemn season wherein we see ourselves in light of our own humanness—moral, fallible, in need of grace. As a part of the season, some choose to take on a spiritual practice or give up something such as fasting from social media in order to clear the way for God to work within. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of this season. This year, as in many years past, we begin with a special Ash Wednesday Service. At this service we set the tone with ashes, a reminder that life is short and God’s grace is the driving force behind a life that is good. Begin this holy season with intention by joining others in worship on March 1 at 7 pm in the Sanctuary.
